Why doesn't everybody just wait till next week when PC Gamer comes out before jumping to all these conclusions about ch4 and GW2? Gaile said that the Inquirer article was only partly true and mostly misleading. If everyone can just be patient for a few days we should know for sure about what ANet plans to do and there won't be any confusion about any of this.

You can never convince people to stop speculating. You may as well go yell at a brick wall.

LOL, even a brick wall would melt if it was yelled at this much. Some people here are made of Hard Granite Stone.

Anticipation is half of the fun. (don't know if this is an English proverb, but it applies very well to this thread).

I'd go with "Sometimes the wanting is more pleasing than the having"

I disagree. There have been a few cases where Gail has hinted that they were looking into adding playable races. Phrases like "We have not made any announcement on playable races" says to me they are planning it but don't want to talk about it yet.

And why is it that so many people are assuming a GW2 is inevitable? Is it graphics advancements? balance issues? what? Granted, it is inevitable that the graphics will need to improve at some point, but why would that reqire a new client?

The Inquirer article is bunk on so many levels.

First, since all the the Chapters are stand-alone games anyway, why a "GW2"? Even if there was a technology jump with some future GW release, it'll probably be compatible with what has come before in some way (i.e., GvG, PvP, characters might even be able to make the cross over at some loss of function... who knows).

Second, announcing a new game 2 years away is simply NOT Anet's style. Their M.O. has been to announce and deliver. These guys (and gals) are a well-oiled machine with no aspirations to become the Kings of Empty Promises. Last time I checked, no one on their staff is named Peter Molyneux.

Third, while a new Chapter (not expansion) binding the three previous Chapters together in a more cohesive way would be a great thing, I think this is thinking small. That's someone who plays WoW way, way, WAY too much talking. Just look at all the tweaking that's going on in the Arenas, all the quest enhancements, festivals... all this and no monthly fees. No, we gotta start thinking outside the box on this one.

There's a grand plan and we don't have the right info yet. The article is bull.

Wow, harsh words for one of the greatest game designers of all time. Where would the world be without RTS games?

note the following truism.

if you fire a shotgun in the general direction of the target blindly some of the pellets will probably hit .

Gaile says *some is true some is false QUITE A BIT is misleading*

he pushes all the buttons and some hit by chance

NOTE ALSO

if NCsoft/Arenanet had a major announcement to make it would not go to that site.

NOTE ALSO that the announcement was considered important enough to report on by only one of the people who heard said announcement

i call bs on the report but as Gaile said there is some part of truth in it

I am one of those people that skimmed through the 42 pages of panic, speculation and paranoia chuckling at all the emotion this thread created. Yeah, I enjoy playing GW and am looking forward to seeing the PCGamer article. Not really sure if the "sky is falling" just yet.

Patience is a virtue.

I will now go back to lurking ...

I hope they change the base map design. Guild Wars uses a 2d mesh and adds objects on top it to give it more "volume", but the end result is pretty ugly and the maps would all look the same, with the textures removed. Curiously enough, World of Warcraft uses the same map design. If the map design can't support a simple bluff or outcropping, I think it needs to be chucked.

This all seems plausible. Why? VANGUARD/LOTR/STARTREK/FIREFLY, etc.., are going to take a lot of the audience, simply by being new, SOOOOOOOOOO GW could be thinking.. "Oh .... we need to keep our audience".

Me personally, if the "new" gw has a pvp section that will slowly ruin pve.. I'm not interested and will pass. IF it has one that runs separately, and one does not affect the other, then I'm in. Simply put I'm about finished with all 3 chapters and getting bored with the genre as is.

Don't know what to think about the Inquirer article to be very honest. Just try to keep some stuff in mind.

Factions doesn't really fit in to the story. So the chances of returning there is unlikely. Unlike Prophecies which left several problems unresolved and Nightfall which has Menzies and Dhuum still causing trouble. Factions completed itself. It seems that most of the story from Prophecies and Nightfall revolve around Abaddon and the 5 Gods leaving the world.

Then there is the matter of Gwen. Gwen is evidently not dead. The quest items especially the Tapestry Shard point to something more with that character. Plus there are signs that Gwen traveled beyond Ascalon. The little girls cape found out side Fisherman's Haven. Gwen's Broken Flute and the Preserved Iris flower which is in Nightfall.

Also look at your Char. Nothing is really know about them. Other than they worship the titans. Which were created by the Margonites.

So as for the next expansion dealing with the conclusion of those problems storywise and even being focused at level 20 and above makes sense.

As to the inquirer's article. I am not aware of any multilevel dungeon being located in Guildwars at all. Possible exceptions being the elite missions. Plus they didn't mention 2 new classes.

So that means

5 new armor sets for each class

18.75 Skills per class. Which doesn't flush out right. With 50 of those being PVE only means a lot of story based progression. And the Skill Hunter Title track still not being abled to be completed.

I think they have the name right. And the concept right. But the numbers are way off. As for Guildwars 2, with the release of Vista and DX10 hardware. I can see a major update to the graphics engine in about 2 years. Since by then the technology will be common place and DX 11 should be out. So why even bother announcing GW 2?

Something that people seem to forget about GW though. Is it is free online play. Which means Arenanet must sell copies of expansions or game related material in order to generate revenue. So it would make no sense for them to stop making updates to the game. Also Gaile mentioned something about an improved Pet System.

But that is my speculation.

Oh yea and as to the races bit. Since the PVP side is all about balance not a likely addition. There have not been any other race besides Centaurs, Char, Margonites, Forgotten and Dwarves in GW to this point. Oh yea and the Naga. Adding new races makes no sense what so ever. Not only that is has no basis with in the current Guildwars Lore.

Wrong. The Charr did worship the Titans, but the Titans were NOT created by the Margonites. The Margonites were trying to keep the Titan's locked up, presumably so they could enslave humanity instead of the Titans. The Titans serve Aboddon. Who "created" them is unknown.

Yeah I agree... the closest thing to a "dungeon" I've found in Guild Wars is that area below the monastery in Presearing... and it's more like a cave than anything.

You're confusing the Mursaat and the Marogonites... Margonites are just minions of Abaddon like the Titans.

Your right, I was. Regardless, the Marg's did not create the Titans either. They are just two groups who both serve Abaddon
